Lucca Summer Festival 2023: unmissable concert
In June and July, Lucca Summer Festival returns to the city. The organization presents a rich and heterogeneous schedule: the artists promise unforgettable concerts, in Piazza Napoleone or within the Walls of Lucca.
Dates and artist
The 2023 edition begins on Thursday 29 June. The first evening will be inaugurated by Kiss, the legendary rock band with astonishing performances celebrating its fifty-year career. It is the last show of the group inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, who will say goodbye to live shows after 100 million albums sold worldwide. Before them, Skid Row, a symbol of American hard rock and heavy metal, took to the stage.
Among the best performers in business, Simple Red arrive in Piazza Napoleone on Saturday 1st July. The concert lineup is dedicated to the great successes of the band, from 1985 until today.
Tuesday 4 July appointment with the legends of English punk. Steve Jones and Paul Cook of the Sex Pistols and Billy Idol and Tony James of Generation X will perform for the first time in Italy with a new and unmissable musical project.
Lucca sings with Bob Dylan on Thursday 6 July, one of the most famous active artists. With his "World Wide Tour", the American Nobel laureate brings the songs from his latest album "Rough and Rowdy Ways" to the stage.
A few days off, before starting to sing again to the tune of Sigur Ros songs on Wednesday 12 July. Among the most anticipated performances, the psychedelic sounds of the Icelandic band will be at the center of the new album and tour. Jónsi, Holm and the reunited Sveinsson promise an unforgettable evening. The concert will be opened by one of the most popular contemporary voices, King Princess.
The next day it's Placebo's turn. With a 25-year career and 13 million records sold worldwide, they are among the most popular alternative rock bands.
Norah Jones arrives at the Lucca Summe Festival on Friday 14 July. On the only Italian date of her shows, the American singer will sing the most significant songs of her career.
Sunday 16 July space for the highly anticipated OneRepublic concert. Among the most followed pop-rock bands in the world, they boast 20 platinum records in Italy alone, dominate the global charts and lend their songs to successful American films and television series.
On Monday 17 July, the legend of the jazz guitar Pat Metheny will take the stage in Piazza Napoleone. In the new musical project "Side-Eye", he will be accompanied by talented young musicians, selected directly by the American guitarist.
Thursday 20 July: the rapper of the moment arrives from Atlanta, Lil Nas X. His shows celebrate sexual freedom and break with the macho stereotypes of hip-hop.
The next day it's the turn of Checco Zalone, icon of Italian comedy. In the theatrical performance "Amore + IVA", he will be accompanied by four musicians and two performers. An unprecedented show in which irony will be the leitmotif of music, stories, parodies and imitations.
Saturday 22 July, the Walls of Lucca welcome Brur for the first time, together again on the only Italian date of the tour. Absent from the music scene since 2013, they will perform the most iconic songs of their repertoire.
Sunday 23 July, ready to dance to the electronic sounds of The Chemical Brothers, the famous British duo formed by Ed Simons and Tom Rowlands. The concert is a real sensory experience, thanks to the spectacular visuals by Adam Smith and Marcus Lyall.
Tuesday 25 April: Snarky Puppyr open the penultimate evening of the festival, featuring jazz, rock, funk and world music sounds. Followed by Jacob Collier, the young British singer-songwriter and instrumentalist discovered by Quincy Jones.
Friday 28 July, the grand finale. The historic walls will host Robbie Williams, on the only Italian date of the tour organized to celebrate his 25-year career. The lineup is dedicated to the greatest hits of the English singer.
